It began with a shared dream—a vision of raising our children surrounded by the rhythm of ranch life, where hard work is a language and the sunrise marks the start of something meaningful. HolmesStead was built from the grit required to turn a raw piece of Colorado land into a sanctuary. We wanted a life that felt real—one where dirty hands meant a productive day. HolmesStead began not just as a piece of land, but as a vision for a family legacy built on grit, laughter, and the beautiful unpredictability of ranch life.

We always knew we wanted a little piece of land filled with cows, horses, and kids growing up with dirt on their boots and an understanding that good things usually require a little sweat. My husband dreamed of the cowboy lifestyle. I mostly dreamed of having cows to kiss.

The goats were not part of the original plan. Yet, here we are.

We built our barn ourselves—quite literally with our own blood, sweat, tears, and probably a few words we won't repeat here. Little by little, the dream we talked about became the life happening right outside our front door.

But somewhere along the way, we realized we didn't want to keep it all to ourselves.

There is something special about ranch life. It's peaceful and chaotic, beautiful and messy, quiet one minute and absolute mayhem the next. It's watching the sunset over the pasture, hearing horses in the barn, scratching a cow behind the ears... and occasionally chasing a goat that has absolutely no respect for property boundaries.

Our vision for HolmesStead is to give people a place to experience all of it.

We aren't trying to be another petting zoo. We want this to feel like stepping into ranch life for a little while—a place where families can slow down, kids can get a little dirty, couples can reconnect, photographers can capture something beautiful, and everyone can breathe a little deeper.

Come enjoy the serenity, embrace the chaos, breathe in the fresh country air... and occasionally get a whiff of fresh manure. It's all part of the experience.

As HolmesStead grows, so will the dream. We hope to welcome more cattle to the ranch, build a quality breeding program, create more experiences for our community, and continue raising our children surrounded by animals, responsibility, hard work, and a deep appreciation for this life.
